Honoring Women’s History and Empowering the Vote in Decatur County
On March 28, 2026, the NAACP Decatur County Branch 5167-B hosted a meaningful and inspiring community gathering: Women’s History & Know Your Voting Rights at Nelson Chapel AME Church Fellowship Hall in Bainbridge, Georgia.
This event was more than a program on the calendar — it was a reminder of the power of education, the importance of civic awareness, and the lasting influence of women in shaping our communities, our history, and our democracy.
As we reflected on Women’s History Month, we took time to honor the courage, resilience, leadership, and sacrifice of women who have paved the way in every area of life — from families and faith communities to schools, advocacy, public service, and the ongoing fight for justice and equality.
At the same time, the event created space for an equally important conversation: understanding our voting rights and the responsibility we all share in protecting them.
Voting is not just a civic duty. It is one of the most powerful tools communities have to shape policy, influence leadership, and advocate for equity, fairness, and opportunity. Through this event, attendees were encouraged to stay informed, ask questions, and deepen their understanding of how civic engagement directly impacts everyday life.
The atmosphere throughout the afternoon was one of unity, reflection, and empowerment. Community members came together not only to learn, but to connect — across generations, experiences, and perspectives. Events like this are important because they remind us that progress is sustained when people are informed, engaged, and willing to show up for one another.
We are deeply grateful to everyone who attended, supported, volunteered, and contributed to making this gathering a success. Your presence helped create a space where history was honored, voices were uplifted, and community power was strengthened.
The NAACP Decatur County Branch 5167-B remains committed to providing programs and opportunities that educate, empower, and mobilize our community. Whether through civic education, advocacy, youth engagement, or community dialogue, our mission continues: to ensure that people are equipped not only with information, but with the confidence to use their voices effectively.
As we move forward, may this event serve as a reminder that:
- Women’s history is American history
- Civic knowledge is community power
- An informed community is a stronger community
We look forward to continuing this work together.
Stay connected. Stay informed. Stay engaged.
